CVE-2009-1612 describes a critical stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the MPS.StormPlayer.1 ActiveX control within mps.dll 3.9.4.27 and earlier versions of Baofeng Storm. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by supplying an excessively long argument to the OnBeforeVideoDownload method. With a CVSS score of 9.3, this vulnerability is highly severe, requiring no authentication and having a medium attack complexity, but leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. It was actively exploited in the wild in April and May 2009, with public exploit code available in Metasploit and ExploitDB, though it currently has low community discussion and media coverage.
