CVE-2009-0836

62
FAUCET Score

CVE-2009-0836 describes a critical vulnerability in Foxit Reader versions 2.3 prior to Build 3902 and 3.0 prior to Build 1506, where the software fails to prompt users for confirmation before executing dangerous actions embedded within a PDF. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary programs and achieve full compromise of a system simply by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted PDF file. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability is considered extremely severe due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While not listed on KEV or Hot Lists, and with no evidence of active exploitation in the wild, a Metasploit module exists, indicating readily available exploit code, though community discussion and media coverage are minimal.
