CVE-2008-4817 describes a critical heap corruption vulnerability in the Download Manager of Adobe Acrobat Professional and Reader versions 8.1.2 and earlier. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by enticing a user to open a specially crafted PDF document that uses an overly long string argument in an AcroJS function call. With a CVSS score of 9.3, this vulnerability is highly severe, requiring medium attack complexity but granting complete confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromise. Despite its age and high severity, there is no public exploit code available, nor is there evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
