CVE-2008-4480

32
FAUCET Score

CVE-2008-4480 describes a critical heap-based buffer overflow in Novell eDirectory versions 8.x before 8.8.3 and 8.7.3 before 8.7.3.10 ftf1. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending a specially crafted Netware Core Protocol (NCP) opcode 0x24 message, which triggers an under-allocation of a heap buffer. With a CVSS score of 10.0, it represents a severe risk due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its high severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code in Metasploit or ExploitDB, or significant community discussion or media coverage.
