CVE-2008-2040

CVE-2008-2040 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the HTTP::getAuthUserPass function of Peercast 0.1218 and gnome-peercast. This flaw allows remote unauthenticated attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and potentially execute arbitrary code by supplying an overly long username or password in a Basic Authentication string. With a CVSS score of 7.5, it is considered highly severe due to its network-based attack vector and low attack complexity, enabling partial confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts.
