CVE-2007-5331 describes a critical remote code execution vulnerability affecting CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup versions 9.01 through R11.5 and Enterprise Backup r10.5. A malformed ONRPC protocol request to the message queuing service (LQserver.exe) can cause arbitrary pointer dereferencing, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability is highly severe, requiring no authentication or complex attack vectors, and leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its age and high severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
