CVE-2006-5552

30
FAUCET Score

CVE-2006-5552 describes multiple heap-based buffer overflows in RevilloC MailServer versions 1.21 and earlier. Remote attackers can exploit this vulnerability by sending excessively long arguments to the MAIL FROM or RCPT TO commands, leading to a denial of service (CPU consumption or application crash) or arbitrary code execution. With a CVSS score of 7.5, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low complexity and no authentication, allowing for partial confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts. While there is no evidence of active exploitation in the wild or Metasploit/Nuclei modules, a denial-of-service exploit is publicly available on ExploitDB, though the vulnerability has received minimal community discussion or media coverage.
