CVE-2004-1388 describes a format string vulnerability in the gpsd_report function of BerliOS GPD daemon (gpsd) versions 1.9.0 through 2.7. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending specially crafted GPS requests containing format string specifiers that are improperly handled during syslog calls. With a CVSS score of 7.5, this vulnerability is considered highly severe due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and potential for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
