27
FAUCET Score

CVE-2004-0982 describes a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in the getauthfromURL function of mpg123 versions pre0.59s and 0.59r. This flaw allows remote attackers or local users to execute arbitrary code by crafting a malicious MP3 file containing an excessively long string before the '@' symbol in a URL. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this vulnerability presents a severe risk due to its network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its high severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code in Metasploit or ExploitDB, or significant community discussion or media coverage.
