CVE-2004-0937

37
FAUCET Score

CVE-2004-0937 describes a bypass vulnerability in Sophos Anti-Virus versions prior to 3.87.0 (and 3.88.0 for Windows 95/98/Me), allowing remote attackers to circumvent antivirus protection via specially crafted compressed files. These files, with zeroed local and global headers, could still be opened on target systems, affecting a wide range of antivirus products including Broadcom, ESET, Kaspersky, McAfee, and others. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over a network with no authentication, potentially leading to compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While not listed in CISA's KEV catalog, an ExploitDB entry (EDB-629) exists for a similar "Multiple AntiVirus - '.zip' Detection Bypass," indicating public exploit code availability, though there is no evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
