CVE-2003-1327

24
FAUCET Score

CVE-2003-1327 describes a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in the SockPrintf function of wu-ftpd 2.6.2 and earlier, specifically when compiled with the MAIL_ADMIN option and running on systems supporting very long pathnames. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by uploading a file with an excessively long pathname, triggering the overflow during the construction of an administrator notification message. With a CVSS score of 9.3, this vulnerability presents a severe risk due to its network-based attack vector, low authentication requirements, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its high severity, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage, suggesting it is not widely targeted.
