CVE-2003-1229 describes a critical flaw in the X509TrustManager component of Java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE), Java Plug-in, and Java Web Start across various versions. This vulnerability causes the system to incorrectly validate digital certificates by misusing the isClientTrusted method for server trust, allowing remote attackers to falsely authenticate peers for SSL connections or incorrectly validate signed JAR files. With a CVSS score of 7.5, this high-severity vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no authentication required, potentially leading to compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
