CVE-2000-1171

25
FAUCET Score

CVE-2000-1171 describes a directory traversal vulnerability in the cgiforum.pl script within Markus Triska's CGIForum 1.0. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to read arbitrary files on the server by manipulating the "thesection" parameter with a "../" sequence. Rated Medium severity (CVSS 5.0), it has a low attack complexity and only impacts confidentiality, as an attacker can only read files, not modify them or cause denial of service. While not actively exploited in the wild and lacking Metasploit or Nuclei modules, a public exploit (EDB-20408) exists, though there is no evidence of community discussion or media coverage.
