CVE-1999-1037

CVE-1999-1037 describes a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the rex.satan component of SATAN 1.1.1. An attacker can exploit this flaw by creating a symbolic link to an arbitrary file, allowing them to overwrite that file due to the application's insecure handling of the /tmp/rex.$$ temporary file.
